Prune Juice: The Pregnant Woman’s Best Friend

Well, I am experiencing quite a few more pregnancy symptoms. I’m still so tired, but I’m also nauseous, can’t think straight, can’t stand up straight, I have pregnancy allergies, but the most annoying is the constipation. I have resorted to a shot of prune juice each morning to keep myself from swelling up and exploding. Let me tell ya, the prune juice doesn’t help the nausea at all, but I had to pick the lesser of two evils. Maybe relief will come in the next trimester.

I heard from Melissa today. Aiden has gained weight and now weighs four pounds! He’s also off the ventilator and she is able to hold him now. If he keeps improving at this rate, he will be able to come home by the end of the year! If you’re praying for him, please keep it up.

Melissa and Aiden

Hi guys,

I’ve meant to ask this of you for nearly a month now, but I’ve been so preoccupied with my own problems and trying to keep updated on the situation that I haven’t gotten around to it. So here goes…

I would like to ask you to pray (or send positive thoughts, whatever is more comfortable for you) for my friend Melissa and her new little boy, Aiden.

See, Aiden was born on September 7th, but his due date was November 25th. He was eleven weeks early and weighed only 2 pounds and 3 ounces. Being premature is bad enough, but Aiden was also born with Spina Bifida. The thing is, they didn’t know that he had SB before she delivered him, so when she pushed him out, the sac/pouch/thingy around his spinal cord ruptured. If they would have known, they could have done a c-section. However, he only has SB in his lower back (which means it is the mildest form of SB) and they usually don’t detect it that way until it’s too late.

So now Aiden is in the NiCU in Augusta, Georgia which is about a four-hour drive from Melissa. The staff in Augusta are taking very good care of him. Actually, he’s already gained a pound and two ounces. He is still on a ventilator, but he is moving his legs around really well. The doctors are amazed and very positive about his outlook.

However, he still has very good days, very bad days, and any kind of day in between. He is progressing, but he still needs all of the prayers that he can get. If it’s not too much to ask, would you please add Aiden, Melissa, and their family to your prayer list?

If you would like to send your thoughts to her via email, just let me know and I will give you her email addy. Please, if you request her email address, only send her your positive thoughts and well wishes. The last thing that Melissa needs right now is negativity or to have to sift through an inbox full of forwarded spam.

Thank you.
